This is my animal walk / run cylce for my 3-D animation class. We are using Maya for those of you who are new to my blog and this was my ifrst semester working ith the program.
This was for our latest project in which we staged a dynamic action. I picked my new character Willy the chicken boy and just have him swinging from a monkey bar. I want to revisit this again and fine tune it. So keep an eye for the revision. I also did this character sheet for Willy. He started out as just a silly sketch, but he has grow since then. I do plan on working the little tigirl into the story at some point, but havn't come up with anything solid yet.
This was a project for my pre-prodcution class. The assignment was to go out of usuay style and create a whole new 10 characters. While the final product doesn't look like I did, I did try to do other styles.
Maya Acting / Reaction
this was just another maya practice assignment. The project was to have a character establish a character and then get hit by a ball in the back of the leg and react. I went for a more exaggerated and looney tuney style.
Camera Move Redone
This is the same project as before "Camera Move" the only difference is that it has been in-betweened and that i cut the up to go down in one part, but i think it looks a little better.
These will be the last of the animations for October. And so another month passes....(big sigh) Well, I am learning more about Maya and improving my hand drawn, which is still my main focus. This time around in Maya we tackled walk cycles.
Regular Walk
Creeper Walk This was part of the other Assignment in Maya, this time we had to do a character walk cycle. Something with a little more personality. chose a creeper kinda walk.... need i say more?
Dramatic Camera / Camera as a Character
Our assignment was to make the camera into a character and use some sort of dynamic movement. This was a alittle tricky for me. Ive never really tried to used extreme camera angles, but I'm really glad we did this because it really helped me feel better about the space my characters exist in and my ability to move the camera around. So altogether helpful. I plan to inbetween this so, watch for a more finalized version of this. Right now its just an animatic
Just a couple more exercises that we are working on in Maya. Im still getting used to the program so be kind. I really like working in Maya tho. makes things a lot easier...sometimes. Hopefully I will have some sketches up soon.
Really happy to be animating again. Especially in Maya (3-D program)! And of course in 2-D again, my real passion.
This is the first time I've ever gotten to animate in Maya. And I think its a step in the right direction. Maybe not the best example, but still....progress.
This is just a weight assignment for our digital class, i know its still 2-d.The assignment was to animated a weighted object like a bucket, shot-put or a wheel barrel. I need to tweek this a little so keep your eye out for my revision.
This was my first really time seeing what after effects could do. Our project was to make a story book using the 3-d layer effects in after effects. I wanted this project to be a little more conceptually based (something i don't usually do). So i played around with a lot of textures. I think I came out a lot better than I still think it did.
For that walk cycle that I posted before this I have to do a background for it and , my gave me idea to do a little muppet babies video editing. So I just got these random videos and put my little character there. Kinda lame I know, but i had to....
This is just a bunch of random sketches that I think are showing a lot of progress. Right now my main focus in a lot of my work is line quality, both my drawings and in my animations. I've also been playing a lot with the copic markers and i think they're getting better.... its still a work in progress tho.
enjoy and thanks for watching even after the long summer of lack of posts.
silly walk cycle that i did for my new digital methods class. Thats right I'm back and animating better than ever! This is my first time digitally inking and painting a project. Im really happy with the way this came out. It took forever to get down after effects, but it was well worth it.
This project was for a good friend who had cancer when I was little named William. He was my best friend and now I hope he is doing well. Its funny, I still remember his favorite cartoon and everything.
So this is me just practicing with coloring. There was no new technique or any thing, just me being a little reminiscent. Me and monica's 2 year anniversary just passed up in May so I thought this would be a nice little token. I couldn't decide which one was better so why not post both. Whatta ya' think babe? ;)
Ok, so this is what I've worked on so far (among other things). I wanted to play with something a little more conceptual and play with patterns and line variation.
Hey everyone, this is just me doing a little fan art / practice with photoshop. I was playing around with more line variation than anything else tonight. The main reason I picked chun li this time was because was watching Street fighter animated movie and got the urge.
This is my End of Sophomore Year Final. It was just a simple character animation that I put some sound and music (from the original x-men animated series). This was just a little homage to my roots. Thanks to everyone who helped me in some way, shape or form. I dedicated this to my family for everything, but that doesn't exclude anyone.
Hope everyone enjoys everything i put out this year and look for great things in the years to come. Only 2 years here for me more for me. Hopefully Ill get some animating done over the summer, but who knows. cross your fingers and hold your breathe.
This is my full final animation. I am in the process of cleaning it up. The end won't look a while lot different than this one. I have fixed a few niches here and there. This hopefully will look cleaner when this is finished.
This was a commission for a very special someone. I have no idea where this idea where this creature originated, but I was "commissioned" to see what would come of a squirrel and a bird being fused together. I think it kinda looks like a gargoyle, but thats because i've been like none stop watching that. cuz it ROX! so here ya go.
Sorry, I haven't posted anything in a while and that my last post was a little quick and vague. Finals are coming up and I'm trying to finish my final animation. BUt fear not I will be back with something that will be worth the time hopefully.
This was a project for my illustration class. I created the "X-Gene Foundation" for my non-profit organization. and , obviously, based the look around a comic book lay out. I think the pixie one came out the best
This is fan art but for a higher purpose than just being a total nerd, well.... and being a total nerd. This is just step one of my project "X-Gene Foundation" poster.
this is just me messin around. I was in my girlfriends dorm and she was working on her work so i thought i'd work on mine. I busted this out in like 30 min. And yay, my knee keeps getting in the shot. sorry.
This is just me taking everyone in my classes sand animation and mixing it together with some sweet beats and getting everything to sync just right. A special thanks to everyones piece i used and to Afro-Celt for the awesome music. thank you everyone. this one runs a little long so sit back and enjoy.
This is my collective sub-conscience cut-out animation. basically our class of 32 collected 10 images each and put them in a box and then used only what was in the box to make an animation. The I just decided to cut a little music and sfx to it. I think it came out hilarious, but yay.
This was my 3rd art trade this semester. This one was for Sakari and her character "Funky and Pissed". Background was hard to do tho. but I felt it was very tasteful.
This is my American Royal Barbeque poster. It was for our illustration class. This is for the actual event itself and the winners image will be used as advertisement for the the event. Keep a look out for the rest of them for our class.
This is the first time my main character has ever been colored and it actually looks good. I have had Becky as a character for about 6 years now and she's still livin' strong.
This was the first successful collaboration for the KCAI Sophomore Animation class. The whole project was done by Evan Tedlock, Dan Buck, and me (Josh Herron). Thats's Evan and me on the bike and Dan did then editing and camera work. This was basically just us messin around with iStop. So go easy.
This is my first complete Art Trade. We set up a art trade here in studio and I took my friend Melissa's "Unikangapangasuar". Its a mixture of a unicorn, dinosaur, penguin and kangaroo. There was no specific colors for this creature so I went "totally tubular" with it.
This is the final product for my expressive drawing class for the "emotion" assignment. As some of you know the emotion i picked was "love". It is my greatest inspiration and I felt very good about doing this after my last angst assignment. I was trying to go for an old love letter that holds memory to its recipient. To all the hopeless romantics out there and to the love of my life I dedicate this.
This is just another practice of my new program iStop. This was an all day project, hence the change in lighting outside. Still kinda janky, but its getting there and is fun enough for me to keep messing with it in my spare time. I started out as a duck like creature and morphs into a dog and then is attacked by a clay hand creature or something. i don't know.... Straight Ahead Rules!
Our 3rd Project this semester. This project was a cut out collage animation that is set to a dream. Mine starts out as actually falling into the dream state and the journey to the dream world and then proceeds to few chunks of dreams that I have had before. I really liked doing this kind of stop animation. Although I didn't realize that the camera was only set up for a seven field so you can see the register in the back ground, but oh well. I am very pleased with this project and would like to do more animation like this.
This is part of my Expressive drawing class project. The project was to pick an emotion and I pick 'love". This is just a traditional charcoal drawing and is only part of the final project. So stay tuned to see the final.
just another sketch becoming the victim of Playing in Photo Shop. This was gear a little in the heart of Valentines day, for my special Lady. Monica. Your amazing my love and I couldn't be more lucky to have you. I was playing with more techniques. This time I took my original line sketch and just painted around it. I think it came out pretty good.
This was the first I piece did with my wacom. Im still getting used to it tho. I think the little kid came out the best, the dinosaur is....well. the good news is im still working on it. I did change it alot tho... got rid of the cowboy!
